Driving while not paying attention is still a big problem in the US. Even a split-second distraction can lead to serious accidents. In Oregon, a driver veered off the road and plummeted 200 feet down an embankment, as reported by the Oregon State Police. You can see in the video below how a Honda CR-V lost control, zooming off the road, flying through the air, and disappearing into the abyss. It’s a scary reminder of the dangers of distracted driving.
Good news: the driver made it out alive! Oregon State Police mentioned in an email to Motor1 that the driver got moderate injuries but nothing life-threatening, thankfully. They even managed to get out of the Honda themselves, as per OSP’s Facebook post. Rescuers stepped in, using ropes to bring the driver up the hill. An ambulance was ready to whisk them off to a nearby hospital for treatment. It’s a relief they’re getting the care they need after such a scary ordeal.
This crash went down on Monday, February 26, around 10:42 a.m., over in Clackamas County on Highway 224, southeast of Portland. We reached out for the police report, but it’s not ready yet. Interestingly, the driver wasn’t given a ticket for the accident.
