Kia’s formidable presence in the automobile industry is hard to not notice. In a very short span of time, Kia has risen to prominence with there cars, which comes loaded with features and the best part, they have managed to achieve this feat in just two decades. That is quite an achievement provided by how its competitors have raised the bar.
In such exciting times, when carmakers unveil their new models a year ahead of their launch date, Kia has just announced their plans with their most famed crossover SUV, the Sorento. Last Year, this car bagged the Safety Pick Award and no doubt the Sorento has been one of the best crossover SUVs in the market. What makes this Kia a deserving awardee is its pricing. At $41,890, the fully loaded top variant of the Sorento is cheaper than most of its rivals. Value for less money has always been Kia’s mantra and that describes the Sorento too.
The new 2021 Sorento follows in the footsteps of its predecessor. Dynamic Styling is deeply rooted in every Kia’s gene and in 2021, the new SUV has more lines that make it more eye-catching. The detailed style upgrade of the new Sorento gives it a more aggressive look and a heavy on-road presence. Character oozes out of the new Sorento and the more you look at its new aggressive headlight styling, the more you’ll realize what we’re trying to state over here.
As has been put forward by Kia themselves in the press release, they say, “we sought to maintain the robust, tough-looking aesthetic of earlier generations of Sorento while applying a greater degree of refinement and elegance. More stylish than ever, the Sorento’s redefined design incorporates sharper lines and uninterrupted surfaces, making it noticeably more sculpted than its more round-edged predecessor. With more contemporary geometric details and more swept-back, elongated proportions, the result is a more confident, more mature and more desirable design than ever.”
The interior of the new Kia Sorento received some pretty serious upgrades. It starts with the huge screen on the dashboard that features both the instrument cluster and the infotainment system. The dashboard blends metallic trim, leather upholstery, and embossed wooden surfaces, seamlessly, which gives the cabin a very upscale feel. The infotainment system incorporates audio-visual navigation, while, the 12.3-inches digital instrument cluster gives very thorough information to the driver.
Though, much has not been revealed about the Sorento’s powertrain apart from the fact that it will be sitting on an entirely new platform. The 2020 model has two engine variants, a 2.4-liter-4-cylinder engine that produces 185 hp and 178 lb-ft of torque and 3.3-liter-6-cylinder and it produces 290-hp and 252-lb-ft of torque. While the former is mated to a six-speed automatic transmission, the 3.3-liter has an eight-speed automatic transmission.
With prices expected to cost anywhere between $26, 990 to $41,890, the Sorento will be pitted against the Ford Explorer, Honda Pilot, Nissan Pathfinder, and the Toyota Highlander. Provided that Kia has a price range comparatively lesser than its competitor, it clearly stands at a position of advantage. The new Sorento will be unveiled at the 2020 Geneva Motor show that is in the first week of March.
